This being my first blog and all, you would expect that I overly show my emotions and condemn the whole Desperate Housewives crew to hell. You can just smell it from reading the the title of this post. Hey, I'm Filipino... that line from that episode was surely anti-Filipino (or at least anti-Filipino doctors), so as expected I should be ranting about how stupid and out-of-touch the writers were, right? Well, maybe not.
Seriously, is this really a big deal? It's just a show and like what Alec Mapa said (a Filipino-American actor part of the cast): "Clearly, we have bigger concerns in the Philippines than something a fictional character said on television." Obviously Alec still gets his pay check from ABC right? But he continued on saying "...it's unfortunate that the Philippines was used as a punch line...". (I got those quotes from Inquirer by the way - yes I do believe in fair use.) Yes it is unfortunate but then again, it is just a line and it really doesn't matter in my eyes because we know we are capable of doing great things, not just our doctors but every single one of us and I'm not going to ruffle my feathers just because some show or some writer decided to use me as a punch line.
